January 30, 2015
Dear Parents,
I
hope you enjoyed the snow days with your families! We had a very
productive three day week! In math, we continue our work in
multiplication. Thank you for all of your support with the partial
products math homework. This practice combined with the work the
students are doing on multiplication.com is producing good results in
the classroom! This week and next week we will be layering on the
concepts of area and perimeter to finish up Unit 2.2 in math.
In
reading the children continue to gather information for their research
on R.I. history. They will begin writing next week. Hopefully they will
use the knowledge gained from their last non-fiction research writing
project to facilitate their success on this assignment. Many of the
students needed to do extensive editing on their final copy to meet the writing standard for fourth grade.
I
will be sending home a reminder with this newsletter of the scheduled
time for your Parent Teacher Conference on Friday, February 6th.
The day is completely booked at this point, so if you do not have a
conference please email me to schedule one for the following week or for
after February vacation. I am looking forward to meeting with you to
discuss your child’s academic progress. Our report cards will not be
going home until February 13th but I feel that I have substantial academic evidence to discuss with you.
Important dates:
- February 6th Parent Teacher Conferences
- February 11th NAEP Testing
- February 13th- Report Cards
- February 16-20 February Vacation
Thank you for your continued support and cooperation!
Sincerely,
Mrs. Masciarelli
