Homework will be assigned Monday through Thursday nights. It should usually take about thirty minutes to complete. If your child is struggling to do the work, please send it in incomplete with a note in his or her planner. We will work on it together at school to clear up any confusion. The intent of the homework is to establish lifelong learning habits and academic responsibility. The expectation is that it is done with appropriate effort and adequate attention. Hopefully the homework will be done at a time and in a location which will support his or her optimal performance. As part of nightly homework, W.E.B. reading for 25 minutes will also be assigned. It is very important that at least twice a week, all or at least part of this reading be done aloud to facilitate reading fluency. Most fourth graders need to practice reading aloud. This will help them to pay attention to punctuation, pausing at commas and stopping at periods, and to hear and feel the flow of language. |
