Parent Newsletter January 23, 2015
Posted on 01/23/2015
Dear Parents,
We continue our work with electric circuits.  We explored conductors and insulators using a circuit tester that we constructed using batteries, light bulbs and three wires. The children tested fifteen items to determine whether the item was an insulator or a conductor. Ask them about it!
In math we continue our work on multiplication.  We will be applying our math knowledge to solving word problems involving area and perimeter. Thank you for your support and cooperation with overseeing your child’s nightly math practice. They should be using the partial products method of multiplication. I have copied a quick review of this strategy for you on the back of this newsletter. Please remember that if your child is struggling with this homework, you can send me a note or email me. The homework is meant for their independent practice and should not be a burden for your family.
In reading we continue to focus on RI history.  Students are gathering the information they will need to write their next research paper. They are very enthusiastic about learning about Rhode Island history!
