Dear Families,
The
students have been working so hard for PARCC test. They have been
putting forth great effort and their responses are making us proud! We
have one last day of ELA testing, and then make ups. Please be sure
your children are on time for school and have a good night's sleep for
Monday morning.
Next
week we continue to learn how to multiply fractions, and begin new book
clubs with realistic fiction for a focus on interpretation. We are
very excited to start a new unit where the kids will think deeply about
characters and lessons they learn. We will also begin to focus on
opinion writing, starting with a debate!
We
have started to use Go Noodle for our scheduled movement breaks and to
help us relax and gear up for new or extended learning. The kids and
staff are loving it-its super fun, is fresh and exciting, and adds a
musical component to the day! Ask your kids to show you their moves! We
also have a few KORE Wobble chairs and exercise balls on the way for us
to use as an alternative to siting on traditional chairs. This will
support focus, movement and strength while completing academics. We
can't wait!
Next
week in social studies we will begin our study on government in RI and
will learn about the history of our State House. We will also begin a
RI map unit soon. Our science kits are on the way-we are gearing up to
learn about land and water and the effects of erosion!
As
spring approaches, we are planning our field trips and very busy end of
the school year. Please be sure that you have a current BCI check on
file with the district. If you do not have this completed, you will not
be able to chaperone our field trips or volunteer for events happening
in the classroom. Information on how to obtain a BCI check can be found
by contacting the CARES office.
