The SKP Lottery Opens March 9th!
ABOUT OUR PROGRAM
“…for children, play is serious learning. Play is the real work of childhood.” -Fred Rogers
MISSION STATEMENT
It is the mission of the South Kingstown Preschool (SKP) to create a loving, nurturing, and productive environment, which respectfully embraces the value of each child, family, faculty member, and community partner. We maintain high expectations for all children with the fundamental understanding that each child can learn given instruction that is built upon his or her unique strengths and learning style. By committing to putting the needs of children first and pooling our resources as needed, we strive to assist each child in reaching his or her full potential during these precious and important early years.
The South Kingstown Preschool (SKP) educates a diverse group of children, including those with and without disabilities. During the 23-24 school year, SKP will provide half-day preschool sessions for 3 and 4-year-olds and full-day classrooms for 4-year-olds.
Play is the primary means by which children demonstrate early learning accomplishments. We have created a learning community that promotes literacy, communication, problem-solving, critical thinking, civic responsibility, and the skills necessary for participating in a culturally diverse society.
As part of the South Kingstown School Department, our program is aligned with the district Kindergarten curriculum. We have also established transition meetings with the SKSD school of entry when your child is ready for kindergarten. This collaboration between SKP and the elementary schools makes for a smooth transition with a clear understanding of your child on the first day of kindergarten.
